Another Field Day in the Books

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and happy.

The Enid Amateur Radio Club participated in the annual Amateur Radio Relay League's (ARRL) Field Day operation "Explore the World" on June 26-27. Once again this year the Cimarron Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross allowed us to use their facility for our base.

I have to admit, it is really nice to look at the thermometer reading 100 degrees outside while breathing in nice cool air. We operated two HF voice stations and Bill/K5ECI manned the CW station both making many contacts. I noticed that one of our Oklahoma clubs, the Broken Arrow Amateur Radio Club, was streaming their FD activities live on the club's website. That, along with "tweeting" over Twitter, is a unique and effective way to get the word out about amateur radio. We had several visitors drop by from El Reno, Union City, and Alva. Our special visitor was Eddie Manley/K5EMS Oklahoma Assistance Section Manager. All total we had over 40 visitors and hams sign in and around 38 attend for supper.

The Garfield County ARES team will suspend monthly meetings for the rest of the summer. Earliest next meeting may be in August.

The next event the club will be participating in will be the YMCA Triathlon on August 7th. Al Fox/KD5BA will be the contact person.
